THE STAINZERBAUER
Situated in the heart of the Styrian provincial capital of Graz, the Stainzerbauer looks back on a long history.
Our restaurant is located in Bürgergasse, in one of the oldest townhouses in the centre of Graz. There has been a tavern on this site, which is located in the immediate vicinity of Graz Cathedral and the theatre, since as long ago as the 19th century.
Back in the days when the bourgeois classes of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy attached great importance to delicious food, the restaurant soon became established as a place of sophisticated hospitality.
For the Pfeifer family, who run the restaurant today, living up to this tradition is something they hold close to their hearts. They have made a number of improvements including to the guest entrance and food preparation.
While it was the upper classes that visited the Stainzerbauer almost a century ago, today’s diners come from all over the world and value the restaurant’s superior cuisine, careful selection of products, fine wines and excellent service.
Tip: in our parlour is available for weddings, birthday parties and other private events catering for up to 25 people

Werner Wiener
Apprenticed at the Kirchenwirt, the parent restaurant of the Pfeifer family. Spent several years training and travelling in the Tyrol, Switzerland and southern Germany.
In 2008, he returned to his roots and joined the Stainzerbauer as head chef.
